Adding to the longest winning streak in Northern this week, West Valley beat Corning 37-6. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Lassen moved up to 373 from 418 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Grizzlies climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Yreka 35-0.
West Valley's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kody Karpinski threw for 141 and 3 touchdowns and Marcus Simmons had 85 yards receiving. On the ground Austin Clark contributed 185 yards. Marcus Smith helped West Valley's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 35 yards.
Greg Grandell's team's dynamic duo of Karpinski and Simmons proved tough for the Cardinals to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Smith helped West Valley's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 35 yards.
Clark provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Eagles topped Corning. Clark's key target this week was Simmons, who caught 2 passes for 85 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Timmy Naylor of Central Valley is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,046. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Franky Shepherd. The Lassen star has 36 catches for 531 yards.
Lassen's Case Bennett needs only 70 yards against Sutter next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Bennett has rushed for 930 yards on 139 carries so far this year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when West Valley takes on the Miners. At the moment, the Eagles are in first, while Yreka is in fourth.
Orlyn L Culp II's team fell to st.jacques tom's team 35-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
