After only seven points in their last contest, Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter made sure to put some points up on the board against Greenwood Christian Academy on Friday. The Raiders snuck past the Cougars with a 33-29 victory. The Raiders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Renaldo Thomas out in front who rushed for 146 yards and one TD on only eight carries. Thomas' longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tavien Fox, who rushed for 43 yards and a pair of scores.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter proved: they limited Greenwood Christian Academy to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. While three picked up at least four total tackles, Kelvin Bass stood above the rest. He picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made four total tackles in addition to snagging an interception. Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.4.
Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter's defense didn't let Trey Dobson., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. Jacob Morris was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself. Another thorn in Greenwood Christian Academy's side was Bass, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made four total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.
Isaiah Johnson Jr and Dobson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Johnson Jr picked up 102 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Dobson threw for 174 yards and three TDs. Dobson didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble and made six total tackles.
The victory got Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter back to even at 2-2. As for Greenwood Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
