Saginaw saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anslee Roberts, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Hannah Brown also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Fossil Ridge made sure to put some runs up on the board against Chisholm Trail on Monday. Fossil Ridge put the hurt on Chisholm Trail with a sharp 15-5 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.
Briley Wilson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yari Santiago, who scored three runs while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ashtyn Hill, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Fossil Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Fossil Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. Saginaw's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.
Saginaw couldn't quite get it done against Fossil Ridge in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can Saginaw avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
