Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is New Richmond's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

New Richmond got themselves on the board against Eau Claire Memorial on Thursday, but Eau Claire Memorial never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Old Abes with a sharp 13-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

New Richmond got a massive performance out of Lauren Raleigh, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Raleigh has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Catelyn Swanepoel, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

New Richmond was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher in four consecutive contests.

New Richmond is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Eau Claire Memorial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Coming up, New Richmond will square off against Hudson at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eau Claire Memorial, they will be playing at home against Grantsburg at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Old Abes surely won't give up without a fight.
