Anderson County is 1-9 against Gibbs since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mavericks will head out on the road to take on the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Anderson County sitting on four straight victories and Gibbs on seven.
Anderson County will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Clinton, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mavericks walked away with a 9-6 win over the Dragons on Monday.
Kaycee Baldwin was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, one run, and one RBI. That's the most triples she has posted since back in March of 2024. Kara Waddell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Six must be Gibbs' lucky number: they beat Lakeway Christian Academy with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Eagles never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Malyiah Smith, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Williams, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Gibbs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in nine consecutive matches.
Anderson County's record now sits at 18-9. As for Gibbs, their record is now 22-2.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Anderson County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Gibbs struggles in that department as they've averaged .430. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
