Softball Recap: 14 Straight Home Victories for Lowry

Lowry faced Churchill County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Buckaroos blew past the Greenwave 12-2. Considering the Buckaroos have won 11 games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Maite Bengochea made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Liliana Aguilar was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Natalya Guizar was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Lowry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Churchill County only posted an OBP of .286.

Lowry's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Churchill County, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.

Coming up, Lowry will take on Dayton at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Buckaroos are facing the Dust Devils at the right time seeing as the Dust Devils are stuck on a 16-game losing streak. As for Churchill County, they will face off against Spring Creek at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.32 runs per game on average), something the Greenwave will no doubt try to take advantage of.
