Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Somers

Somers owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They came out on top against the John Jay Patriots by a score of 4-0. The win was nothing new for the Tuskers as they're now sitting on four straight.

The result came thanks to Emily Boyle's shutout, as she gave up just two hits.

At the plate, Somers got a big performance out of Victoria Morel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Morel has posted since back in April of 2024. Katie Cole also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Somers' victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for John Jay, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Somers will be playing in front of their home fans against Rye-Rye Neck-Blind Brook at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for John Jay, they will head out to square off against Roosevelt at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
