The Sheridan Rams couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 68-51 fall against Denver Waldorf on Wednesday.
Despite the defeat, Sheridan saw an underclassman step up: Bobby Garcia scored 24 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Medrano, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
Denver Waldorf was led to victory by Henry Lotteridge and Cayden Quinn. Lotteridge scored 20 points along with 7 steals, while Quinn scored 17 points along with 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Erik Krakauskas was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with 3 steals.
Sheridan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Denver Waldorf, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sheridan will take on Rocky Mountain Prep SMART at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Denver Waldorf, they will head out on the road to face off against Denver Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
