For the first time this season, Dixie will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will take on the Snow Canyon Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dixie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Dixie is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Arbor View, who was ranked fifth in their home state at the time (Dixie was ranked 12th). Dixie came up short against Arbor View on Saturday, falling 10-2. The Flyers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jordan Andreas was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Crew Pryor and Colton Hill stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pryor scored two runs and stole two bases, while Hill went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most stolen bases Pryor has posted over his last 13 matchups.
Meanwhile, Snow Canyon waltzed into their contest on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Red Devils 9-3. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Dewy Gibb, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Kade Kelsch was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Snow Canyon pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Dixie, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Wednesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Dixie has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like Snow Canyon struggles in that department as they've averaged .493. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dixie couldn't quite get it done against Snow Canyon in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can Dixie avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
