Baseball Recap: Marmion Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Marmion barely beat Montini Catholic the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cadets blew past the Broncos 11-1 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Cadets, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Jack Hughes tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Marmion got a massive performance out of Ethan Flores, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Flores a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Schultz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Marmion kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.

Marmion pushed their record up to 16-9-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Montini Catholic, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marmion will host St. Francis at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their 16th straight win, something the Cadets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Montini Catholic, they will welcome Sandburg at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Broncos surely won't give up without a fight.
