Baseball Recap: Riverside Wins Going Away Against Honesdale

Riverside barely beat Honesdale the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over the Hornets on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won five in a row.

Nicholas Bohenek made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Bohenek was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Chase Taddonio and Connor McNally did most of the damage at the plate: Taddonio went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while McNally got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Taddonio also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Cooper Borowski was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Riverside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Riverside's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Honesdale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
