Football Recap: Manheim Township Piles Up the Points Against Reading

While Manheim Township put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Reading. The Blue Streaks took their game with ease, bagging a 63-0 win over the Red KNights. That 63 point margin sets a new team best for the Blue Streaks this season.

Jack Kenneff had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 39 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 116 yards and one TD on perfect 6-for-6 passing. Those 39 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Daryus Dixon was another key player, picking up 88 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Manheim Township was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 227 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 171 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

Manheim Township didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Riley Rontal. Manheim Township received some extra help from Grant Sages, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Manheim Township's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.3 points over those games. As for Reading, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Coming up, Manheim Township will head out to square off against Penn Manor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Streaks will be up against the Comets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.13 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Reading, they will face off against Oxford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
