The Central City Bison came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 43-38 W over Wood River. That's two games straight that Central City has won by exactly five points.
Central City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addie Buhlke, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Jerzie Schindler, who scored ten points.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Macie Peters, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals. Sidney Frear was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two blocks.
Central City has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Wood River, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.
Central City will be playing at home against Madison at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Madison is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Wood River, Wood River and Ord will face off on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Ord is ranked 121st, while Wood River is ranked 122nd).
