The Ingalls Bulldogs struggled with assists on Friday (the Dighton Hornets had 15 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Ingalls was dealt a 70-42 loss at the hands of the Hornets. While losing is never fun, Ingalls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Hornets are ranked 82nd).
When it comes to explaining why Ingalls lost, one person who can't be blamed is Layton Simon. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Dighton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Cramer, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 assists. Cramer is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Carson Shimer, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Ingalls dropped their record down to 6-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Dighton, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ingalls' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. As for Dighton, they will face off against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wichita County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Tuesday.
