Make it 14 blowout wins for the Xavier College Prep Gators this season. They put the hurt on Perry with a sharp 69-44 win on Thursday. Given Xavier College Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while the Pumas are ranked 26th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Xavier College Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Irene (Noelle) Guiamatsia, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Maureen Ulrich, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Xavier College Prep is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. As for Perry, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.
Xavier College Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Perry won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hamilton is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
