The Texas City Stingarees's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 45-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ball. Texas City has struggled against Ball recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Texas City still got an impressive performance from Kamille Merchant, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Merchant continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Kalynn Smith was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Ball's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braeon Arceneaux, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Arceneaux is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalyn Toussaint, who scored 16 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.
Texas City's defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-13. As for Ball, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.
Texas City will head out on the road to face off against Angleton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ball, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Manvel at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Manvel will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
