Softball Recap: Germantown Beats Starkville for Their Third Straight Victory

Germantown entered their tilt with Starkville on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Yellowjackets 15-2. Considering the Mavericks have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Lily Bittle, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Julia Glasgow was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Germantown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Germantown pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Starkville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Germantown will host Madison Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Germantown is facing Madison Central at the right time seeing as Madison Central is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Starkville, they will be playing at home against Tupelo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
