If the Yavneh Academy Bulldogs were riding high off their 48-22 takedown of Golda Och Academy on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Yavneh Academy took a hard 55-40 fall against Varsity Opponent on Saturday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Yavneh Academy in their matchups with Varsity Opponent: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lilly Yalovsky, who scored 19 points. The game was Yalovsky's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniela Hargrove, who scored 6 points along with 10 rebounds and 3 steals.
Yavneh Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Varsity Opponent, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 24-111.
Yavneh Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Poetry Community Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Poetry Community Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than four points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Varsity Opponent, they will head out on the road to face off against Marie Philip at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
