After flying high against the Johnson Knights on Friday, the Walnut Grove Warriors came back down to earth. Walnut Grove opened the new year with a less-than-successful 63-52 loss to Central Gwinnett. Walnut Grove was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Central Gwinnett apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Timothy Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Central Gwinnett, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. Donte Golden was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 assists.
Walnut Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Central Gwinnett, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walnut Grove will square off against Seckinger at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Seckinger will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Central Gwinnett, they will head out on the road to face off against Collins Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
