After flying high against the Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs on Thursday, the Wiggins Tigers came back down to earth. The game between Wiggins and Sedgwick County wasn't particularly close, with Wiggins falling 53-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wiggins has scored all season.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Riley Hunt, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds. Hunt scored a full 27% of Wiggins' points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Kerr, who scored 14 points.
Sedgwick County found their leader in underclassman Lainee Nein, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The game was Nein's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Abigail Dille was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Wiggins now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Sedgwick County, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Akron the next time they take the court. Wiggins will head out to face Akron at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Sedgwick County will host them at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
