Council Grove has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Eureka Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Council Grove scored first but ultimately less than Marion in their contest on Friday. They took a hard 32-14 fall against the Warriors.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Landon Dody, who picked up 91 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Eureka's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by West Franklin 42-6. Eureka was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
Council Grove's defeat on Friday dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Eureka, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-5.
Everything came up roses for Council Grove against Eureka in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 42-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Council Grove since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
