If the Basic Wolves were riding high off their 73-20 takedown of the Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Basic took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Franklin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Basic came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 70th in Nevada, while Franklin is ranked 332nd in Washington).
Despite the loss, Basic still got an impressive performance from Christian Baltierrez, who scored 12 points. Tayshaun Waldrop was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Basic has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Franklin, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-5.
Basic will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Southeast Career Tech at 5:20 p.m. on December 22nd. Southeast Career Tech comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Franklin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Basic at 9:00 a.m. on December 23rd. Hopefully Basic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday.
