Oscoda took a 47-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Alcona on Monday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Oscoda in their matchups with Alcona: they've now lost three in a row.
Alcona's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Garrett Somers, who scored 18 points along with nine steals and six rebounds. Somers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Evan Borsvold was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 13 rebounds.
Oscoda's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Alcona, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oscoda will take on Heston Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alcona, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Mio-Au Sable at 7:30 p.m.
