Basketball Game Preview: Ridgevue Warhawks vs. McCall-Donnelly Vandals

The Ridgevue Warhawks and the McCall-Donnelly Vandals will face off at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Ridgevue is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season.

McCall-Donnelly is hoping to do what Emmett couldn't on Friday: put an end to Ridgevue's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Ridgevue couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 45-15 blowout they got against Emmett. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Warhawks have posted since November 19, 2024.

Ridgevue's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but McKenna Durrant led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. Durrant has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hollund Miller, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 boards.

Ridgevue smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, McCall-Donnelly can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They skirted past Burley 52-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vandals have posted since January 6, 2024.

Ridgevue better keep an eye on Emma Ormsby. She was instrumental in McCall-Donnelly's win, putting up 20 points. The dominant performance gave Ormsby a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Spangenberg, who posted nine points.

Ridgevue is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for McCall-Donnelly, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
