Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Christian Academy Heat vs. Southeastern Christian Academy Warriors

The Liberty Christian Academy Heat will take on the Southeastern Christian Academy Warriors in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty Christian Academy is looking for their season's first victory.

Liberty Christian Academy is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Epiphany on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Liberty Christian Academy came up short against Epiphany, falling 51-30. The Heat were down 39-19 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Iris Potts, who posted eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hollyn Thigpen, who had 14 points in addition to four blocks and three steals.

Even though they lost, Liberty Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Southeastern Christian Academy ended up a good deal behind Triad Baptist Christian Academy on Saturday and lost 51-33. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the Titans are ranked 99th).

Southeastern Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Liberty Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Everything came up roses for Liberty Christian Academy against Southeastern Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February, as the squad secured a 59-15 win.
