Legacy hasn't had much luck against Doral Academy Red Rock recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Longhorns will challenge the Dragons at 11:00 a.m. Legacy will be looking to extend their current 14-game winning streak.
Legacy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Foothill 12-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Longhorns have posted since March 7th.
Legacy let Aofia Noa and Madison Castellon run wild. Noa went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Castellon went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most hits Noa has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Victoria Beebe, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Doral Academy Red Rock made easy work of Desert Oasis on Thursday and carried off a 15-6 victory. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by seven runs or more this season.
Gabriella Rodriguez was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Desarae Castaneda was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Doral Academy Red Rock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Oasis only managed seven hits.
Doral Academy Red Rock pushed their record up to 22-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Legacy, their record now sits at 21-6.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Legacy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .513. However, it's not like Doral Academy Red Rock struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
