Mackenzie Catalanotte was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Kaelani Paulino was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in four or more in each of the last three games she's played. Baylee Wallace was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Sunrise Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Horizon fell victim to Desert Mountain and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Wolves, falling 7-0. The Huskies haven't had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Sunrise Mountain's record now sits at 17-10. As for Horizon, they now have a losing record of 10-11.
Horizon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sunrise Mountain has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. It's a different story for Horizon, though, as they've only averaged .354. Will they be able to contain Sunrise Mountain's hitters?
Sunrise Mountain might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Horizon in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
