The Hoover Patriots will head out on the road to square off against the Roosevelt Rough Riders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hoover barely beat Torres the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots blew past the Toros, posting a 44-14 victory.

Cam Mobley

| 08/29/25 vs Santa Maria | 4 |

Cam Mobley was his usual excellent self, throwing for 393 yards and six TDs while picking up 12.7 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 76 yards on only nine carries. Those six passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Pamir Olivier was Mobley's top target, picking up 117 receiving yards and three scores.
Hoover didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Justice Bell, Caleb Marquez, and Ruben Duenas picked up one apiece. Bell's receiving production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 115 receiving yards. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, while Roosevelt put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Madera South. The Rough Riders claimed a resounding 55-0 win over the Stallions. Given the Rough Riders' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 318th, while the Stallions are ranked 860th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Roosevelt found their leader in sophomore Ehis Idoni, who rushed for 84 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Roosevelt's run defense was locked in: Madera South could only muster 2.5 yards per carry. The Rough Riders didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 17.8.
Roosevelt's record now sits at 7-1. As for Hoover, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Hoover has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 177.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Roosevelt struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 182.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Hoover lost to Roosevelt on the road by a decisive 26-7 margin in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Idoni, who rushed for 169 yards and one TD while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Now that the Patriots know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
