Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Summer Creek

Summer Creek had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Humble Wildcats a 15-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cali Chapman made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Chapman was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Torie Turner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Bella Melchor also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Summer Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 15-2. As for Humble, they dropped their record down to 4-14 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summer Creek will venture away from home to face off against Kingwood at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Humble, they will head out to square off against Goose Creek Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Humble has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
