St. Edward got a great performance from  Luis Vargas as he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only  one  hit over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave  Vargas a new career-high in  strikeouts (four).
 On the hitting side,  Brayden Collins-Langfield was  incredible,  going 2-for-3 with four  RBI, one  triple,  and one  stolen base. Those  four  RBI gave  him a new career-high.  Anthony Leadley was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  run.
St. Edward's win bumped their record up to 2-26. As for Elgin, their defeat was  their 12th straight at home, which  dropped their record down to 3-22-1.
 The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. St. Edward will host Illinois Lutheran  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. The Green Wave are facing the Chargers at the right time seeing as the Chargers are stuck on  a  seven-game losing streak. As for Elgin, they will head out to  challenge Aurora East  at 4:45  p.m.  on Monday. The Maroons will also cruise into their next  matchup with the timing on their side: the Tomcats will have lost 17 straight heading into Monday's  game.
