Braden Valenteen and Alex Davis made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Valenteen tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Davis tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At bat, Valenteen scored a run while going 1-for-1, while Davis scored a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Yulee got a massive performance out of Jared Malphrus, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits Malphrus has posted since back in March. Brodie Nichols was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Parker came into Wednesday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 20-5 margin over Harvest Community on Wednesday. The Braves' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Parker let Yaxiel Santiago and Marcus Cuyler run wild. Santiago scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Cuyler scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Santiago has become a key player for Parker: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Billy Cummings, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Parker hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Yulee is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Parker, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Yulee has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Parker struggles in that department as they've averaged .485. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
