Baseball Game Preview: Mifflinburg Wildcats vs. Warrior Run Defenders

Mifflinburg has gone a perfect 3-0 against Warrior Run recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wildcats will welcome the Defenders at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mifflinburg's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Bloomsburg by a score of 4-0. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Mifflinburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Schneck, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Aaron Bolick also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Warrior Run strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 6-3 win over Hughesville. Those six runs were actually the fewest the Defenders have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Griffen Harrington was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Warrior Run pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average this season. As for Mifflinburg, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mifflinburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Warrior Run struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Mifflinburg took their win against Warrior Run when the teams last played back in March of 2019 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Defenders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
