Softball Recap: Arnold Wins Going Away Against Choctawhatchee

Arnold was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Choctawhatchee on Monday. The Marlins were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Indians. Considering the Marlins have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Bre Clark looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Arnold got a massive performance out of Hayley Sexton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Lily Cobb was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Arnold was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .621. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Arnold is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Choctawhatchee, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arnold will face off against Bozeman at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Marlins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bucks have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Choctawhatchee, they will square off against Walton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
