It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Shamrock Irish can now relate to. They had to suffer through a rough 49-14 loss at the hands of Gruver. Shamrock has struggled against Gruver recently, as their match on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Shamrock lost, one person who can't be blamed is Philip Cook. Despite the final result, he rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 333 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. Rodney Holmes also helped out as he racked up 133 receiving yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gruver to victory, but perhaps none more so than Briggs Satterfield, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns. Pratt McLain also helped out as he racked up 134 rushing yards.
Shamrock now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Gruver, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Shamrock does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gruver will square off against Ralls at TBD on Friday.
