Softball Game Preview: Greensburg Central Catholic Centurions vs. Ellis

Greensburg Central Catholic is a perfect 4-0 against Ellis since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Centurions will host Ellis at 4:00 p.m. Ellis took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Greensburg Central Catholic, who comes in off a win.

Nine must be Greensburg Central Catholic's lucky number: they beat Monessen with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Centurions beat the Greyhounds by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 9-3. The Centurions haven't had any issues with the Greyhounds recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Ellis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Leechburg, falling 17-4.

Ellis saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaelyn Lyons, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Elyse Brennan, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Greensburg Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Ellis, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Ellis' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Greensburg Central Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Ellis, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Greensburg Central Catholic keep running through batters, or will Ellis buck the trend?
