Benjamin Moya Delivers Best Performance of Season
On Friday, Mar Vista got the W thanks in part to Benjamin Moya playing the best football he has all season. Moya rushed for 32 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 65 receiving yards and a touchdown. The performance marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in August.
Mar Vista moved to 2-6 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak. Their road trip will continue as they head out to face Southwest SD at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Peter Thomas Goes Supernova in Mar Vista Victory
Peter Thomas helped snap Mar Vista's six-game losing streak. Thomas turned in nothing short of a gem on Friday, rushing for 74 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 130 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. Those 74 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
This season, Thomas has thrown 10 touchdowns (and and only 2 picks) while averaging 117.4 passing yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after seven games last season, he had one passing touchdown.

Dario Garcia Turns in Season-Best Performance
On Friday, San Ysidro had to settle for second even though Dario Garcia put up the best numbers he has all season. Garcia rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. The effort marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in October of 2023. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.
Unfortunately for Mar Vista, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Garcia. When Garcia last faced the Mariners back in October of 2023, he rushed for 214 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.9 yards per carry.

Southwest SD's Losing Streak Is No More Thanks to Conner Davis
Southwest SD's three-game losing streak is now nothing but a memory thanks in part to Conner Davis. Castle Park had no answer to Davis on Friday as he made four total tackles and defended a pass. Davis also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making four total tackles and defending a pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Southwest SD's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-4. Davis and Southwest SD will welcome Mar Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Fewell Came Up Big in Mar Vista's 36-35 Win
Thanks in part to Ciontae Fewell, Mar Vista said goodbye to their six-game losing streak. San Ysidro had no answer to Fewell on Friday as he rushed for 97 yards on only eight carries, and also picked up 43 receiving yards. Fewell also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making four total tackles.
On the season, Fewell has averaged 42.7 receiving yards per game.
