Football Recap: CJ Lusk Key Part of Team Effort in Knights Win + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lee Williams, Westview was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They secured a 36-30 W over the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Fighting Lobos recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Westview's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was CJ Lusk, who rushed for 148 yards and one touchdown while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Trysten Fierro, who picked up 69 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Westview proved: they limited La Joya Community to a paltry 2.3 yards per carry. Westview's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 3.18 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 5.97 on average over their last five games.

Westview's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Omar Rosales with two.

Despite the loss, La Joya Community still got an impressive performance from Jayden Quick, who picked up 201 receiving yards and two scores. Quick was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 51 yards. Another player making a difference was Aaron Winfield, who rushed for 47 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
