Summit is 8-2 against Rahway since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Hilltoppers will head out on the road to take on the Indians at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Monday, Summit didn't have quite enough to beat New Providence and fell 2-1. The Hilltoppers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
Summit started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-19, 25-17.
Maren Heary put forth a good effort for the losing side as she had 11 digs and two aces. Ayina Colon also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Meanwhile, Rahway didn't have quite enough to beat West Orange on Monday and fell 2-1.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Rahway sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 20-25, 25-13.
Despite the loss, Rahway saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Calixte Laqui had 14 digs. Laqui is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last four games she's played.
Summit's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Rahway, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's match: Summit has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Rahway struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Summit came out on top in a nail-biter against Rahway when the teams last played back in November of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hilltoppers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
