Liberty has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against The Chaparral Firebirds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Liberty's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
Last Friday, Liberty faced Saguaro in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Liberty simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Saguaro 31-3 at home. The result was nothing new for Liberty, who have now won seven matches by 28 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Navi Bruzon, who rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Chaparral's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 56-14 loss at the hands of Centennial. While losing is never fun, Chaparral can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Centennial is ranked second).
The losing side was boosted by Lucciano Madda, who threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns.
Liberty's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 38.33 points. As for Chaparral, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Liberty didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Chaparral in their previous meeting back in October of 2021, but they still walked away with a 41-37 win. Will Liberty repeat their success, or does Chaparral have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
