Kensington Lakes - West recap Oct. 23, 2012
Damian Minoch of Howell ran for the longest rushing play in Kensington Lakes - West this season against Lumen Christi last week. Minoch's team topped the Titans as he sprinted for 79 yards on the play and finished with 154 in all.
Howell extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lumen Christi, 24-21. The win marks fourth in a row for the Aaron Metz's team.
Pinckney's dynamic duo of Buck West and Bobby Thomson proved tough for South Lyon East to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. West threw for 163 yards and two touchdowns and Thomson had 89 yards receiving. Joe Groen helped Pinckney's passing attack out by catching two balls for 30 yards.
Anthony Wasyl made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Pirates fell to the Cougars. The 6-foot-0 senior pulled down one interception.
6-foot-2 quarterback West of Pinckney is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1458. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns. On the ground, Hartland's Stephen Milarch has rushed for 663 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Bryan Ridley. The Hartland star has 22 catches for 535 yards.
The top two teams in Kensington Lakes - West will face off this week when first place Hartland takes on second place Howell. The Eagles defeated Thurston last week, while the Highlanders topped Herb Brogan's team.
Brighton moved up to 194 from 248 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs were able to make move up by defeating Detroit Country Day 23-20.
