1A Nisqually - Division 2 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Chimacum's Melvin Thornton recorded the longest rushing play in 1A Nisqually - Division 2 this season in his game against Cedar Park Christian last week. Thornton's team lost to the Eagles as he sprinted for 80 yards on the play and finished with 121 in all.
Chimacum moved up to 253 from 282 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Shawn Meacham's team was able to make the jump by beating Shawn Meacham's team 41-13.
Cedar Park Christian's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Josh Ionesi threw for 44 and one touchdown and Andrew Rickman had 44 yards receiving. On the ground Daniel Watts chipped in 146 yards. Steven Hunsaker helped Cedar Park Christian's passing attack out by catching one ball for one yard.
Charles Wright's Fritz Jacobson and Beau Iverson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jacobson has thrown for 266 yards this season, while Iverson, a 6-foot-8 receiver, has five catches for 91 yards. The Cowboys' Thornton leads the league in rushing yards with 559.
The top two teams in 1A Nisqually - Division 2 will face off this week when first place Charles Wright takes on second place Cedar Park Christian. The Tarriers last week, while Todd Parmenter's team beat Chimacum.
