Winning is just a little bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 29% better than the opposition, a fact the Hampton County Hurricanes proved on Saturday. They snuck past Whale Branch with a 56-50 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Hampton County.
Hampton County was led to victory by Kavon Chisolm and Joshua Goodman. Chisolm scored ten points along with nine rebounds, while Goodman scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Darius Brooks was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Whale Branch lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Laron Wright, who scored seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradford Thompson, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds and five steals.
Hampton County has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Whale Branch, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.
Hampton County will be playing at home against Woodland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Woodland is ranked 48th, while Hampton County is ranked 72nd). As for Whale Branch, they will head out on the road to challenge Branchville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
