Softball Recap: Parsippany Starts Season with Victory at Home

Parsippany took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Mountain Lakes Lakers. For the Redhawks, this counts as revenge for the 10-2 victory the Lakers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Arianna Zajac made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off four hits. Zajac was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Parsippany let Georgia Kachulis and Olivia Freire run wild. Kachulis went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Freire scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Piya Parulekar was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Mountain Lakes is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Parsippany will square off against Academy of St. Elizabeth at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mountain Lakes, they will venture away from home to face off against Parsippany Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
