The East Lake Eagles managed to keep up with the Keswick Christian Crusaders until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. East Lake was the victim of a tough 54-30 defeat at the hands of Keswick Christian. While losing is never fun, East Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Keswick Christian is ranked 68th).
Ava Graham was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds for Keswick Christian. Graham is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Robyn Cantwell, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
East Lake are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Keswick Christian, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Lake will take on St. Petersburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Keswick Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Booker at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Booker has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
