The Kewanee Boilermakers will head out to face off against the Galesburg Silver Streaks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kewanee has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Kewanee managed to slip by Farmington the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Boilermakers lost 13-3 to the Farmers on Wednesday. The Boilermakers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Kewanee saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Peed, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Galesburg got the win against Rock Island on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-5. The Silver Streaks have beaten the Rocks the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rocks has come to flipping the script.
Nico Ojeda made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Galesburg let Jameson Dickerson and Tyree Taylor run wild. Dickerson went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Taylor went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Dickerson has become a key player for Galesburg: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 10-17 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Alfred Ayala, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Kewanee's loss dropped their record down to 11-18. As for Galesburg, their record is now 14-17.
