Chesapeake is 8-0 against Southern since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Collin Lewis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 152 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries. Isaak Sears made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, Southern's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Northeast by a score of 12-10.
Chesapeake's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Southern, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Chesapeake has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 176.5 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Southern, though, as they've been averaging only 95.3 per game. How will Southern fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything went Chesapeake's way against Southern in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as Chesapeake made off with a 37-13 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chesapeake since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
