The Ridgewood Generals will head out on the road to take on the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Ridgewood comes in on six and Tuscarawas Valley on 15.
Ridgewood proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 12) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Buckeye Trail 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Generals have posted since April 12th.
Addison Lahmers was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Meanwhile, Tuscarawas Valley hadn't done well against Garaway recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Pirates. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted against the Pirates since April 13, 2022.
Elliott Wallick was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Hallee Borell was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
Tuscarawas Valley's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Ridgewood, their record now sits at 11-5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ridgewood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Tuscarawas Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 12 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Ridgewood was able to grind out a solid win over Tuscarawas Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Generals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
