Paige Ryser continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds. She has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last 20 times she's played. Chamille Harrison was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.
Cheyenne Wells smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 13 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Sierra Grande earned a 39-32 win over Creede on Saturday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Miners recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Sierra Grande's win came from a few key players Cheyenne Wells will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaylyn Quezada, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 15 steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Yazmin Molina, who posted six points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Cheyenne Wells is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points on average over those games. Sierra Grande's win bumped their record up to 14-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Cheyenne Wells has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Sierra Grande struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Cheyenne Wells against Sierra Grande in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, as the team secured a 57-23 victory. Does Cheyenne Wells have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sierra Grande turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
