The Zeeland East Chix will head out on the road to face off against the Muskegon Big Reds at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Zeeland East focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Zeeland East posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Holland 52-20 at home. Zeeland East has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 28 points or more this season.
Emily Wierenga continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Mirra Fenlon was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Muskegon unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They suffered a rough 65-43 loss at the hands of Renaissance. While losing is never fun, Muskegon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Renaissance is ranked fourth).
Zeeland East's win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7. As for Muskegon, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Zeeland East might still be hurting after the 52-29 loss they got from Muskegon in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Zeeland East avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
