The Rock Creek Christian Academy Eagles pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 62-55 to Riverdale Baptist. That's two games in a row now that Rock Creek Christian Academy has lost by exactly seven points.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sam Norfleet, who scored 13 points along with six assists. Jeremiah Barnes was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Ashley Sims was nothing short of spectacular for Riverdale Baptist: he scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sims has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cannon Greene, who scored 13 points.
Riverdale Baptist's lineup was just a bit different on Thursday as Kamari Cooke got a bit more time on the court (27 vs. his season average of 13.6). Cooke made the most of the opportunity, scoring six points along with five assists and two steals. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Rock Creek Christian Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-9. As for Riverdale Baptist, they pushed their record up to 22-14 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Rock Creek Christian Academy will square off against Life Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rock Creek Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Life Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
